In the years following his conquest of Naples, Charles solidified his rule by securing martial and financial assistance from his two nephews, Robert d’Artois and Pierre d’Alençon. These connections further encouraged the transplant of musicians and poets from France – such as Perrin d’Angicourt, Rutebeuf, Raoul de Soissons and Adam de la Halle -, making the court an immediate course of textual production.
