Le Roman d’Eneas

A twelfth-century adaptation of Virgil’s Aeneid in French verse, Le Roman d’Eneas emphasizes Virgil’s romantic engagements, especially his love for Lavinia, introducing Ovidian meditations on courtly love to the traditional narrative. The manuscript listed below is a mid-fourteenth-century Italian copy of the French romance. The poem’s conclusion is incomplete, and a short Latin poem, ascribed to various authors, on vanity follows.
